Permanent makeup: art, technique and structure in facial harmonization.

By Olga Litvin and Andrea López.

Permanent makeup has evolved significantly in recent years, moving beyond a purely cosmetic procedure to become an advanced tool for facial harmonization. Today, the success of a result depends not only on the pigment or the technique used, but also on a comprehensive facial assessment, an understanding of the skin, and precision at every step of the procedure.

In my practice as a micropigmentation artist, achieving facial harmony begins with a thorough facial analysis, taking into account areas such as the lips, eyes, and eyebrows. The goal is not simply to define or highlight features, but to balance proportions, soften asymmetries, and respect the client’s natural anatomy. Offering a 100% personalized result, adjusting shape, saturation, and tones, can generate significant changes in expression without the need for invasive procedures. I always consider it essential to understand what the face needs, rather than applying standard techniques, but rather a technique completely tailored to each person’s needs and desires.

In my technique, I strive to adapt each procedure to both the skin type and the desired outcome. Taking a tailored approach to each patient is essential, analyzing their individual needs to identify their specific requirements and achieve natural-looking results. For example, more superficial and blended techniques allow for natural effects, such as lip blush or airy brows, while more structured applications help define contours and correct asymmetries.

In conclusion, when micropigmentation is performed conscientiously and professionally, it becomes a powerful tool that helps enhance natural beauty without compromising facial harmony.
