WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a natural component of the skin with high hydration capacity. It can retain up to 1000 times its weight in water while maintaining the volume and smoothness of the skin. The amount of hyaluronic acid present in the dermis gradually decreases as we age. As a consequence, the skin becomes dry and fragile and wrinkles begin to appear. The goal of hyaluronic acid injections is to continuously restore the HA level in the skin while filling in the deepest wrinkles to maintain a youthful and healthy appearance.
HOW DOES THE GEL DISAPPEAR?
Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the body and as such it progressively degrades over time by the action of enzymes (hyaluronidases) and natural oxidative stress (free radicals) TEOSYAL® gels are 100% resorbable. WHAT HAPPENS DURING A TREATMENT SESSION?
  • Throughout the session, your practice will inject areas of your face with hyaluronic acid using a needle or cannula. The needle penetrates a few millimeters depending on the type of product injected. Then he/she will massage the injected area to shape the product

ARE HYALURONIC ACID INJECTIONS PAINFUL?
HA injections can be slightly uncomfortable. However, the TEOSYAL Puresense line, which contains a local anesthetic, substantially reduces these discomforts.
WHEN WILL I BE ABLE TO SEE THE FINAL RESULTS OF THE INJECTION?

WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD I TAKE BEFORE AND AFTER THE PROCEDURE?
You should inform your doctor of your complete medical history and of any treatment or medication you have taken. Before injection
It is strongly recommended that you avoid taking aspirin, anti-clotting and anti-inflammatory medications for the week prior to the procedure. Consult your doctor before stopping any chronic treatment. After injection
Avoid drinking alcohol, boarding an airplane, or doing any type of sport for 72 hours after the procedure. It is also advisable to avoid dental treatments, cosmetic procedures of any kind, exposure to the sun and extreme temperatures (freezing weather, saunas, steam rooms, hot baths) during the 15 days after the treatment.
WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS?
Although HA is a natural component of the dermis, its injection can cause unwanted effects depending on variable factors: ExternalType of product, technique, injected area, number of injections and volume of injected product.

WHAT ARE THE CONTRAINDICATIONS?
HA injections are contraindicated and should not be used in:
  • In combination with peeling, laser or ultrasound-based treatments.
  • If the patient suffers from any skin disorder, inflammation or infection at or near the treatment site.
  • In the case of patients with hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid, with a history of severe allergies or anaphylactic shock.
  • For the PureSense range of TEOSYAL® products in case of hypersensitivity to lidocaine and / or local anesthetic agents.
  • In the case of patients with known hypersensitivity to one of the excipients of the supplemented phosphate regulator for TEOSYAL®PureSense Redensity [I] and TEOSYAL®PureSense Redensity [II]
  • In the case of patients with autoimmune diseases.
  • Pregnant, lactating or child women.
  • Sportsmen and women should be warned of the fact that these HA products contain an active component that can give a positive drug test.
  • Do not inject into blood vessels.
  • Do not inject into the eyelashes.
  • In patients with bags under the eyes (existence of orbital fatty hernia) for TEOSYAL TEOSYAL®PureSense Redensity [II].

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I INJECT HYALURONIC ACID?
Usually the effect of the injection depends on the type of product and differs from one patient to another.
  • In the case of a biorevitalizing treatment with TEOSYAL® PureSense Redensity [I], the effects last 3 to 4 months.
  • For a filler treatment using TEOSYAL® fillers the effect can last from 12 to 18 months (TEOSYAL® Ultimate).

IS TEOSYAL® COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER FILLERS?
TEOSYAL fillers should never be injected into an area previously injected with permanent fillers.
Injecting TEOSYAL® fillers into an area previously injected with temporary fillers is not recommended. If you wish to change products it is highly recommended that you wait one year after your last injection.
IS TEOSYAL® COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER MEDICAL TREATMENTS?
It is important that you inform your doctor about all medications and supplements that you take regularly since some substances can accentuate possible side effects (Vitamin E, anti-inflammatory, anti-coagulant).
CAN ALL SKIN PHOTOTYPES BE TREATED WITH TEOSYAL® FILLERS?

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE REQUIRED TO BE INJECTED WITH HA?
Only adults can be injected with these products. Our products can be used when the first lines appear. At this point the recommended product is TEOSYAL® PureSense Redensity [I] as part of a strategy to prevent the first wrinkles and rehydrate the skin, preventing the appearance of deeper wrinkles.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HA FILLERS AND CHEMICAL NeEUROMODULATOR?
Both fillers and Chemical Neuromodulator are used to treat wrinkles, although their mode of action is completely different. Chemical Neuromodulator is injected into the muscle. It causes local paralysis, thus reducing fine lines. It is a preventive method.
HA fillers are gels that are injected under the skin to directly fill in wrinkles and hydrate the skin’s surface. It is a corrective method.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERMANENT AND RESORBABLE FILLINGS?
Permanent fillers last longer on the skin than resorbable fillers. Its effect is irreversible. As a consequence, removing the implant or correcting the result is extremely difficult. Additionally, permanent fillers can cause delayed hypersensitivity. It is highly advisable to use absorbable fillers for safer results.

CAN A SYRINGE BE REUSED IF IT IS STORED PROPERLY?
No. After injection, syringe, needle or cannula and any unused product should be discarded immediately, as these are single-use devices.
It is important to be sure that your practitioner is using a new sterile syringe at the start of each session.
WHO CAN PROVIDE TEOSYAL® TREATMENTS?
Only qualified healthcare professionals should administer TEOSYAL® injections.
